After serving in the Air Force for 13 years, Thomas DeTardo decided to pursue opportunities in the private sector.  While in sales for a large IT company, he was exposed to various floor systems. Curious about the floor coating industry, he began researching how he might enter the business. Using his sales expertise, he landed a sales position with a regional flooring contractor. His responsibilities quickly expanded beyond sales into operations, logistics and team management.  After eight years, an opportunity was presented for him to start his own business. He started S. David Flooring with local contractors David Spencer and Don Halil. Together, S. David Flooring has over 75 years of experience in the construction industry.
